We are transitioning to a new Health Information System to better serve you

St. Mary’s Healthcare is currently in the process of transitioning to a new Health Information System to better serve our patients. Upon completion our new system will combine St. Mary’s inpatient, emergency, primary/specialty care, outpatient services and testing into a single electronic medical record system (EMR). This will allow our care teams to more efficiently access patient data and improve the patient experience.

The new system will also allow access to a new patient portal that patients can access right here on the St. Mary’s Healthcare website. The new patient portal will feature many useful features including the ability to pre-register for appointments allowing you to save time and plan your visits accordingly.

IMPORTANT:
Please be aware, during this transition period patients and visitors may experience longer than normal wait times and notice additional support associates in our offices and hallways. These additional staff members are on hand to better ensure disruptions are minimal.

Additional Information:
The St. Mary’s Patient Billing office will be closed until February 7 as they transition to the new system. If you need to make a payment during this time, please call (518) 282-3416 or click HERE to make a payment.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this process.

Maria Loux, St. Mary’s RN Honored With 2021 DAISY Leader Award

Birthing Center Supervisor recognized for serving with compassion and determination

Maria Loux, RN, Maternity Supervisor at the Birthing Center at St. Mary’s Hospital has been awarded the coveted DAISY Nurse Leader Award.

St. Mary’s Healthcare is proud to announce that Maria Loux, RN, Maternity Supervisor at the Birthing Center at St. Mary’s Hospital has been awarded the coveted DAISY Nurse Leader Award. Maria was presented with the award during a surprise ceremony on December 13.

The DAISY Nurse Leader Award was established to recognize nurse leaders who engage and motivate nurses and create an environment of trust and compassion.

In Maria’s nomination letter, multiple associates from the Birthing Center penned testimonials speaking to Maria’s leadership skills, compassion, comradery, and her determination to keeping the birthing center running smoothly for our patients.

“I couldn’t think of a better candidate for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award,” said one associate. “Maria has recently stepped up to the Maternity Unit Supervisor, but her leadership skills have helped this unit long before that was official. She is so dedicated not only to this unit, but to the staff, patients, and the hospital as a whole. Maria goes all out to help with improving the unit, giving back to the community and our patients, and making our staff feel seen and appreciated.”

Another colleague described how Maria served with compassion and excellence during the most difficult time in modern health care.

“In the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Maria stepped into the role of Maternity Supervisor where she continued to not only work full time hours but constantly picked up extra hours as needed to help out her unit. She’s compassionate, knowledgeable, and she always puts the needs of our patients and our staff above all else.”

It was also noted on the nomination letter that Maria regularly checks on her staff during times of high volume and how she is always the first one to acknowledge the good work the maternity unit does.

St. Mary’s Healthcare is proud to name Maria Loux as our latest Daisy Nurse Leader Award recipient.

About the Daisy Nurse Leader Award:

This DAISY Nurse Leader Award is an initiative of the DAISY Foundation that honors the amazing work nurses do for patients & families every day wherever they practice, in whatever role they serve, and throughout their careers.

The DAISY Foundation was created in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 of complications of an auto-immune disease (hence the name, an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System.) Patrick received extraordinary care from his nurses, and his family felt compelled to express their profound gratitude for the compassion and skill nurses bring to patients and families every day. The DAISY Award celebrates nurses in over 4,700 healthcare facilities and schools of nursing around the world.

The St. Mary’s Healthcare Capital Campaign Enters Public Phase

Amsterdam, NY (October 14, 2021) – St. Mary’s Healthcare is pleased to announce the public phase of its first Capital Campaign in over 6 years. This project, “Preserving our Promise…The Campaign for St. Mary’s Healthcare,” expands on the St. Mary’s Rao Outpatient Pavilion, which opened its doors in 2015, to an integration of primary care, behavioral health services, and a retail pharmacy, which is being deemed as a “Medical Village.” This location also provides access to much needed outpatient services all under one roof.  In addition, this campaign also includes the expansion and renovation of the inpatient chemical dependency unit, which will be located on the St. Mary’s Healthcare Memorial Campus.

“This is an extremely exciting time for St. Mary’s Healthcare as we embark on the public phase of this campaign, and now we could use the community’s support more than ever. It is evident that this project has already been met with positivity and generosity during a challenging time in health care. St. Mary’s has many great ways for you to get involved and support this campaign. With your help through online donations, and assistance in supporting the goals of this campaign, we will be able to continue to serve our community for years to come,” stated Bri Giulianelli, Executive Director of the St. Mary’s Foundation.

The “Medical Village”, which opened to the public on June 14, 2021, serves as “one-stop shopping” for St. Mary’s patients. St. Mary’s has combined three of their primary care practices located in Amsterdam under one roof, along with behavioral health specialists, diabetes education, pastoral care services, and a retail pharmacy (set to open later this year).  When a patient visits their primary care provider, they will be able to easily pick up their prescriptions following their visit. If they need to visit the Rao Outpatient Pavilion next door for lab work, medical imaging, urgent care, breast health or cancer medicine, they can use the connecting corridor to access those services.  A healing garden has been planted, as well, for patients and associates to find a peaceful place to meditate and reflect.

“Throughout the pandemic we have been witness to many donations and messages of support from in and around our area. I am humbled at the level of generosity from our established donors, associates, and community members. For over 100 years St. Mary’s has led the way in excellent health care for the Fulmont region and our goal to continue that legacy remains unchanged,” stated Scott Bruce, President and CEO of St. Mary’s Healthcare.

St. Mary’s has been fortunate enough to garner support from wonderful community leaders and businesses. These amazing early community supporters include, but are not limited to Alpin Haus, Hill and Markes, Stewart’s Shops, BBL Construction, Beckmann Converting, Rose and Kiernan, and St. Mary’s Healthcare Auxiliary have all pledged their support to this campaign. We are thankful for their belief in the mission of St. Mary’s, which is to serve our most poor and vulnerable neighbors. We hope that we can count on our community, as well.
